Habitat for Humanity Celebrates 20 years

Rita, Evonne, Verletta, Pastor Jackie, and the rest listened as Teresa Ellwood told the story of how the church’s Mission Committee started Habitat for Humanity in Norfolk.

 

In 1994, Joan Zanders, Chair, asked the Mission Committee, “What mission could we start for the city that would last?” Others on the team who worked for one year to get the Habitat affiliation included: Teressa, Hildeguard Fenske, and Esther Rechtermann.

 

Mike Frank, construction manager at Northeast Community College gave the key to the family who partnered on the 27^th house!
